George Michael Ball

Burntwood Family History

George was the husband of Alan Betts's great aunt Gertrude Ann Barnett. He was born in Hednesford in 1890 and later became a Hawkesman
George enlisted in 1915 in the West Yorkshire Regiment and was sent to France
In July 1916, he came home on leave and married Gertrude in Hednesford
After home leave, he returned to France. On the 28th March 1918 he was killed at Arras

His name appears on both the

Hednesford War Memorial and Cannock Church Street Memorial and his name also appears in the

The Ramembrance Book of Hednesford War Memorial

In October 2005, Alan went to Bienvillers Military Cemeteryand visited George's grave and paid his respects If you want any information on George or Gertrude,please contact Alan Betts
